Hello,

I'm french and i decide to work for my master thesis, on the hussites war letters.

I wanted to know if some of you have an idea to find documents.
I found some letters in czech , that i can traduce , on the CMS (Centrum Medievistickych Studii) but i want to find more ! :)
I'm interested in correspondances between hussites or between catholics, in czech.

Thanks for your help !

Dear Mr. Maximilian.D,
we can recommend you our website, where you can find the documents you are interested in. The Hussites did not write only letters, but also manifests. These manifests were mainly in Latin. You can find them under these links:

Hello Jiří ,

I'm still working on the letters ( traduced 10 letters and manifests to french) and i wanted to know if there are some topics on the forum ( even in czech langage) who deal with communication mode of the letters of Zizka ( did the letters were readed in public ? How the manifests were spreaded in the hussits communauties ? )

Thanks in advance for the help !

( Moreover do you know were i can find the originals letters or manifests you sent me in links ? ) I know that for the Royal forces most of the documents are in Trebon , in the Rosenberg's archive). For the Hussits, i'm living in Tabor, and at the museum they told me that most of the archive were in Prague ( almost nothing in Tabor, quite imbelievable)

The letters had usually its own addressee, that´s why they were usually private. But the letters adressed to the municipal communities (Domažlice, Prachatice) - full of calls and appeals - could have been read to a broader audience.
Unfortunatelly there are no special topics about it on our online forum.
This is my anwer to your questiion if I understand it correctly. :?

Manifests of Hussites were supposed to defend their programme and their just fight for the truth of God. That´s the reason why they were not intended for the Hussites but mainly for the Catholic church (both domestic and foreign).
